Why is this important:

A typical website consists of at least 50% images, and their weight is greater than the weight of other files (scripts, styles and fonts).

If you check the site in the PageSpeed Insights resource, then this item there is called “Adjust the appropriate image size.”

This means that somewhere on the site a large image is squeezed into a small window. It is automatically reduced to the size it needs, but the weight of this picture remains the same as a large one. Why load a big heavy one if you really need a small one...

What is included in the service:

Changing the size of a picture is not difficult and you can even do it en masse, but there is a nuance. Suddenly this picture on this page is used as a thumbnail, and on another page it is displayed in full size...

This happens, for example, if you look at a category with products, then each product has a small preview, and if you click, the product card will open, where this picture is already larger, and if you click on it, it will generally open in the entire width of the screen.

If in your case the same image file is used for all these places, then it cannot simply be changed in size. Yes, it will be ideal for a thumbnail in the product list, but in the product card it will already be blurry and not clear, and when you click it, a small, incomprehensible one will open instead of a large one.

Therefore, you need to create copies of pictures in different sizes for different places, check in the code for the existence of a thumbnail, and display a separate one in the right places.
