Why this matters:
Mobile screens are smaller, so many desktop elements are hidden to save space. When an element is not needed on mobile, it is better not to load it at all instead of merely hiding it with CSS.
A common example is a large header slider that disappears in the mobile layout.
The slider may be invisible on a smartphone while its large images, scripts, and styles still load and slow the page. The files are present even though the visitor cannot see the slider.
