Predictable link cards
Add Open Graph Markup
Configure title, description, image, type, and canonical URL for each agreed template so shared links are clear in social networks and messaging apps.
- each page has one coherent OG dataset;
- the image is crawler-accessible and crop-safe;
- previews are tested on real URLs, not HTML alone.

Business outcomes
Recognizable sharing
Published links show the intended brand, page meaning, and relevant cover.
Template system
Articles, products, and landing pages receive their own data instead of one generic card.
Error control
Remove empty fields, relative URLs, duplicates, and images blocked from crawlers.
What we do
- Map page types, title/description/image/URL sources, and fallback behavior.
- Preserve original server HTML and previews for control URLs.
- Add unique
og:title,og:type,og:url,og:image, and useful additions inhead. - Align Open Graph with canonical, locale, and actual page content.
- Verify absolute HTTPS URLs, image status/MIME/dimensions/crop, and anonymous access.
- Purge relevant cache and retest primary templates and exceptions.
Boundaries
| Work | Status | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Agreed templates and fallbacks | Included | Implementation and sampled testing. |
| New OG cover production | Separate | After format and brand approval. |
| Twitter/X Card and platform extensions | Separate | OG fallback is tested; extensions scoped separately. |
| Schema.org and search rich results | Separate | A different vocabulary and task. |
| External crawler cache refresh | Not guaranteed | We request rescanning but cannot control timing. |
Start with the current-markup audit or follow the implementation guide.
